Dear Patients,

As the news around the efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 continue to rapidly evolve, we want to assure you that we are monitoring the situation and developing contingency plans to continue to serve you as best as possible, with all due concern for the well-being of our staff and patients.

First and foremost, there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 among our patients or staff at any of the clinics.

Our clinics are stocked with medical grade cleansers and disinfectants, and the staff are following all standard and enhanced cleaning procedures.

Reduced Hours at Some Clinics:

With the recent closures of schools and daycares, we expect to have a reduced number of clinic staff available to work. In the interest of providing adequate staffing coverage at the clinics, we are eliminating the extended hours of operation at those clinics that have them. Effective tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18, all clinics will be open from either 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, or 6:30 am to 2:30 pm only.

Temporary Maintenance Program:

At your next visit, the nurse will provide you with information about the Temporary Maintenance program. This will be helpful for you to maintain your weight should the clinics be closed or if you are unable to visit and receive a vitamin injection.

Distant Patient Program:

The Distant Patient Program has been available to those patients who live remotely from a clinic or who travel too frequently to attend regularly. This program is now available to all patients who wish to use it to remain active in the strict weight loss program during the period when the clinics may be inaccessible. Please speak to the clinic nurse to learn more about the DPP and how it may help you.

Download and Use the Bernstein Mobile App:

We would like to encourage all patients to take advantage of the tools and information available in our mobile app. The app allows patients to access the most up-to-date lists of allowed foods and recipes, and to track your weight loss progress. It also contains clinic addresses and contact information. In order to log into the App the clinic will have to setup your Portal login. This may have been completed already. Use your Email address or Username along with your password in order to log in to the app. The clinic staff can assist you with this login information if necessary. You can download the app at https://www.drbdiet.com/app/.

For current patients who are or will be unable to attend the clinic for an extended period of time, we are waiving the 4-week limit on inactive patients to access the tools and information on the mobile app.

Once again, we would like to remind all patients that if you have any symptoms of illness – fever, cough, shortness of breath – or if you have travelled outside of Canada, please do not come in to the clinic.

Thank you for your attention, cooperation and understanding during this uniquely challenging period. We wish you all good health!
